Dubuque South Port Public Input Opportunities

South Port Dubuque IA
The City of Dubuque in partnership with the University of Iowa’s IOWA INITIATIVE FOR SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES held its first of a series of public input and feedback sessions examining South Port’s future land use on October 25, 2012 at the Grand River Center.
Graduate students from the University of Iowa’s School of Urban & Regional Planning gave a presentation about the following:

  • Explanation on why we are here today.
  • Main goal for the session
  • History of the Port of Dubuque
  • Development differences between the North Port and the South Port
  • Insight into what other cities have done to redevelop their ports
  • Ideas generated by speakers to help with brainstorming

People in attendance were then divided into small group input sessions.  Following the input sessions, each group gave short presentations to all that were in attendance.  After the presentations, a poll of presented ideas where compiled.
The event was well attended and the results are being compiled and will be available at an upcoming public meeting.
